These superb prints are taken from an early edition of Goldsmiths Animated Nature circa 1847, and are very finely executed with excellent colour and detail. The originals have been preserved in first class condition and are beautifully fresh. The drawing is unusually dynamic and the compositions are very considered. This print of woodpeckers is unusual in that it includes the now extinct American Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, and looks very striking with dominant blacks and whites contrasted with strong colour.
