This delightful and elegant bridge crosses the River Greta at a point just upstream of the Meeting of the Waters, where the river joins the Tees. It once carried the A66 trunk road before the construction of the dual carriageway, from which it can now be seen.
The unknown figure in a bowler hat is a characteristic Yeoman device to add scale and human interest to what might otherwise be a rather featureless picture. It also serves to illustrate how little water was in the Greta at the time.
