A striking and dramatic Yeoman landscape with two posed figures. This small footbridge spans Thorsgill Beck close to the ruins of Eggleston Abbey near Barnard Castle and is typical of the picturesque pastoral landscape much-loved by the photographer.
The figures, a man and woman, are on opposite sides of the beck and some distance apart, clearly posed for maximum visual effect. The female figure appears to be Yeoman's daughter, who appears in several of his photographs. Eggleston Abbey is just out of shot, though the nearby cottages can be seen behind the tree to the right.
This is an excellent print produced from an 11"x14" selenium toned silver gelatin original, and is remarkable for its clarity and rich tonal range.
