A classic Yeoman image of Barnard Castle, but probably the only one which shows the full sweep of the Market Place from this end of the town. As usual the street is shown virtually deserted, but revealing lots of fascinating period detail, including early shop fronts, signage and architectural features. The light is particularly spectacular, the image having been captured after heavy rain with sunlight just appearing behind the market cross. Superb quality from a full plate silver gelatin original.
